My husband visited India recently for a work trip, and had a chance to join a cycling group while there. This is a very remarkable group, with a purpose much larger than I could have imagined. Due to the pollution in Delhi, many people’s hemoglobin levels are too low to donate blood. Part of this group’s social action goal, aside from generally promoting cycling and reducing pollution, is to raise people’s hemoglobin levels so that they can regularly donate blood for people who need it within India and elsewhere in the region – see specifically the information under “Donor on Call”.
